Biblical Eldership
An Urgent Call To Restore Biblical Church Leadership
By Alexander Strauch
With over 200,000 copies sold, this comprehensive look at the role and function of elders brings all the advantages of shared leadership into focus. Beginning with the four broad categories of eldership (leading, feeding, caring, and protecting), Biblical Eldership explores the essential work of elders, their qualifications (including why qualifications are necessary), their relationships with each other, and each of the biblical passages related to eldership. Written for those seeking a clear understanding of the mandate for biblical eldership, this full-length, expository book defines it accurately, practically, and according to Scripture.
About The Author - Alexander Strauch
Alexander Strauch was raised in New Jersey and converted to Christ at a Bible camp in New York State. He received his undergraduate degree from Colorado Christian University and went on to earn his Master’s in Divinity degree from Denver Seminary. For over 40 years he has served as an elder at Littleton Bible Chapel near Denver, Colorado. Additionally, he has taught philosophy and New Testament literature at Colorado Christian University. A gifted Bible teacher and popular speaker, Alex has helped thousands of churches worldwide through his expository writing ministry.
I have read this book several times and had the honor of speaking with the author on the phone years ago. He is authentic and a great communicator of truth. He teaches and stands for a great biblical truth that has been lost over the past century, especially in the American church. That is the truth about the oversight of a plurality of biblically qualified Elders.
Far too many churches have adopted the Americanized business country club model of the church where members pay their dues and elect someone to represent them and if they are unhappy they can vote him out and get someone who will do what they want. This is sinful and a direct violation of God’s commands for His church.
He also has a great book on the proper and biblical role of Deacons as well.
Biblical Eldership Resources
Discover, Train, And Implement Biblical Eldership
Our vision is to promote biblical eldership for the glory of God by providing teaching, resources, training, and mentoring for current and future church leaders who will implement, practice, teach, and train others in biblical eldership as the model for church leadership.
This website was instrumental when I was training to become a qualified Elder. I am a graduate of their School Of The Shepherds. On their website, an individual or church can learn everything from identifying their unique situation to discovering what changes are needed, and how to go about it.
